LDSFA- Details of Projects and Plans - Part 1

Loka Dharma Seva Foundation of America
The Projects as below need to be organized with your support and volunteers:
Part-1

1. Integrated Community Service for various communities in India and also for the South Asian Indian Community members out-side India focusing on Lifestyle Modifications for a Healthy Body, Mind and Spirit. The service will focus on special training in the age-old traditions and cultural habits of the Indian community, their ancient teachings in philosophy, spirituality, cultural habits, food habits and ancient medical and health related studies suitable for their genetic make-up. This service will be particularly carried out to prevent premature physical health problems such as Metabolic syndrome, Diabetes, Hypertension, Obesity and Vascular diseases leading to pre-mature death, seen at a higher rate among this segment of world population. They will be educated on importance on cleanliness and proper sanitation facilities and food security with proper diet habits suitable to their genetic characters and avoiding too much of modern modified food supplies as also such dietary habits of other cultures and societies that has caused the significant damage to their health. They will also focus on stress related mental problems, depression, dementia and higher incidents of juvenile suicides as also the loss of moral, ethical and spiritual values due to cross cultural confusion and wrong opinions or social habits caught on that was not suitable for them, leading to health problems, obesity, drug abuse, violence, criminal activities and attitudes glorifying anti-social behavior.

2. Spiritual Educational Programmes – In Ancient Indian Culture and traditions, we have several well educated, spiritually evolved leaders and teachers and many are knowledgeable in the teachings of our Vedas and several of other holy texts. At the same time, large sections of our community are totally ignorant of the Dharma, other holy texts and the teachings in them except some fractions of the traditions and customs that they follow. Several groups of our members even question such teachings due to ignorance and are in need of learning Indian traditions and culture. We need to support priests, teachers and schools that teach our faith from basic teachings of the Dharma to the books like Gita and Vedas and assist in projects for their welfare. We need to teach Spirituality, Ritualistic traditions, Ethics as in the culture, Temple worship methods, Hindu classical  literatures, Puranas, Bhajans, Mantras and slokas in Sanskrit and Tamil for all Hindus, both men and women of all jaathis, all combined under one roof.

3. Social Support Services for the youth educating them on the importance of learning values of society early in life with educational programs on Cultural validation and Social studies and traditional stories with values that they can imbibe as also knowledge of importance of health, hygiene and nutrition during their school years. Youth in the school and college level should be encouraged to work together with team spirit and discipline in conserving their social values and be proud of their traditions with coordinated education in social interaction and organizing to work in groups as also training in physical fitness and regular schedule of exercise, outdoor games, and martial arts and mental fitness through value oriented games and puzzles.
